We prepare girls to become future ready leaders.
What We Do
All girls have the grit, talent and passion to lead – they just need help unlocking them! It’s our mission at JYC Girls Impact Foundation to open the door for all girls to unleash their boundless potential and make a positive, lasting impact everywhere they go.
We want to help girls get ready for their future! By providing girls with future ready resources – education access, tech skills and mindset, and the inspiration and ability to lead with confidence, we are equipping girls with the agency to make their own decisions and become future generation leaders.
Every girl has the potential to lead in her own way! Future ready leadership is synonymous with confidence, goalsetting, communication, collaboration and recognizing inherent talents. By imparting core leadership values and skills through signature programmes and events featuring women trailblazers from every field, we hope to position teen girls to become leaders of their lives: proactive decision makers, who make a positive, lasting impact in everything they do. We hope to inspire and empower girls to become future ready leaders, who thrive on the power and versatility of technology, lead confidently and by example and expertly connect, communicate and collaborate with others. There is nothing more important than empowering girls today to become tomorrow’s leaders!
By 2030, between 400-800 million1 jobs around the world will be lost to automation, and technology will transform every sector and industry. Our rapidly changing world needs people who are versed in the power and versatility of technology and in solving problems with a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) mindset. While the number of women in STEM fields have grown in past decades, there continue to be a gender gap at all stages of the STEM pipeline: from interest and intent, to majoring in a STEM subject in college to having a career in a tech-driven field.
At JYCGIF, we are committed to leveling the playing field by supporting STEM programs that afford girls the skills and mindset to prepare them to pursue 21st century opportunities across all fields. By developing tech literary and engaging with women leaders from STEM fields and other sectors shaped by technology, teen girls will be inspired and empowered to approach every possible career path as future ready leaders.
To date, some 132 million girls1 are out of school worldwide. Barriers to girls’ education differ among communities and countries – but all girls everywhere deserve robust learning opportunities. Education has far-reaching benefits for girls, families and communities. According to landmark research2 by economist James Heckman, education breaks the cycle of poverty by building stronger, healthier families and creating the best circumstances for generational upward mobility. Heckman finds that more educated women tend to be healthier, employed, active members of society who choose to marry and have children later in life. The personal and family gains in health, employment and civic life afforded by education create a lasting domino effect of prosperity.
At JYC Girls Impact Foundation, we know that investing in girls’ education at once alleviates poverty and empowers the next generation of future ready women leaders. With an education, girls grow up to earn dramatically higher incomes, becoming key decision makers, responsible for the health, education and financial security of their families. By providing girls in disadvantaged communities with access to education, we hope to improve the quality of life for them and their families – and to equip them to become future ready leaders of their communities.
